FAQs

Manufacturing & design standards

In the absence of any specific standard/s for dive sensors, the new generation oxygen sensors are currently manufactured in accordance to ISO 9001:2015 and the CE mark without body number is applied.

The sensors have been developed to the applied standards:
EN 50270 , EN 50104/A1, EN 61010-1 and EN61326-1.

In addition, sensors can be manufactured to specific standards to meet requirements of OEMs.

Declaration of Conformity

We work with OEMs to construct a specification and, as required, produce a Declaration of Conformity to that specification.

Does VST supply sensors direct to divers?

To ensure that there is full traceability, Vandagraph Sensor Technologies will only supply bona fide manufacturers or developers.

Testing

We advise OEMs that the sensors they wish to utilize must be independently tested by them and/or a third party to ensure that the sensors are fit for purpose in their specific equipment.

We also advise OEMs to have their equipment tested to EN14143.

Can you mix sensors from different manufacturers?

This depends on the technological capability of the OEM equipment. OEM operating instructions must be referenced.

Generally we do not advocate mixing sensors from different manufacturers. From substantive testing of sensors from different manufacturers we have noted differences in specifications and differences in operational characteristics. Production tolerances may also need to be taken into consideration.
